On Saturday April 28th, Ravenscroft’s Upper School SGA sponsored an on-campus kickball tournament to raise money for In Sam’s Name. Eight teams and a total of 76 students participated in the event. Team “99 Problems,” made up mostly of seniors, prevailed in the final game over “Rock Your Socks,” a feisty group of juniors. Team registration fees as well as individual student contributions and an additional contribution by SGA helped to make the activity a tremendous success, raising $1250 for our fund! We greatly appreciate the contribution made by all those who participated and look forward to watching this event grow as it becomes an annual fundraiser at the school.
Our first fundraiser event on the 29th was a tremendous success thanks to the support of everyone who showed up for a plate. Thanks to our friends at Piper’s Tavern, Danny Hurley for the delicious chicken & ziti and Jimmy Powers for coordinating the donations. Over the course of the evening we raised over $4,000! Special thanks are also in order to Fast Signs and the Celentano family for donating the banner. Susan Williams for her graphics work. Cynthia and Cassie for keeping everything moving. Last but certainly not least, Carol Burroughs and Barb Hurley for acting as servers extraordinaire!
In commemoration of Sam’s passing one year ago, friends of the family, Jimmy Powers and Dan Hurley, will host a Chicken Parm Nite at their restaurant The Piper’s Tavern. Please join us on February 29th for a dinner buffet including Sam’s favorite dishes. Tickets for the event are $20 or you can donate directly at Triangle Community Foundation.
